HCPS Teacher Scholars’ Program

Specifically for students interested in teaching and pursuing a career with Henrico County Public Schools after graduating college. HCPS wants to fill positions in areas where there is a critical shortage, including Spanish, Math, Exceptional Education, Science, Technology and Family & Consumer Sciences.  See high school counselor for additional details.

 

TCF – Dick Glover Virginia Wrestling Scholarship Fund

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior and a member of the Virginia Wrestling Association.  The student must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, community commitment and financial need.

 

Strong Men & Women in Virginia History Student Writing Contest

A writing contest sponsored by the Library of Virginia and Dominion Resources is available to high school students in Virginia.  Students must write a 400 word essay from a prompt.  Four winning essays will be chosen, one from each of the four regions in Virginia that Dominion serves.  Winners will receive an Apple MacBook Air and $1,000 for your school.

 

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating & Air Conditioning Engineers – ASHRAE – Richmond Chapter (Frederick Weiss & Robert Blue Memorial Scholarship)

ASHRAE – Richmond Chapter is offering this scholarship to any student from the Richmond area who is enrolled or will be enrolling in an engineering, science, or mathematics degree program at a technical, two year or four year institution.  The need for financial aid is required and preference will be given to applicants who want to work in the field of heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning.  Students who have a parent that belongs to ASHRAE will also be given additional consideration.

 

Richmond Pinochle Bugs Social & Civic Club, Inc. Scholarships

Applicant should be a high school senior who has been accepted to a two year, four year, technical, or community college.  A GPA of 2.0 or higher is required.  Contact high school guidance counselor for further information.

 

Hanover AARP Chapter Scholarship

Applicant should be a senior in high school who plans to major in Special Education. A 3.0 GPA or higher is required, along with leadership abilities.  An essay on why one would like to go into the field of Special Education is required.  Contact high school counselor for details.  Extended to April 15, 2020.

 

Martha Mason Hill Memorial Foundation Scholarship

This foundation is looking for well-rounded students, in good academic standing who have participated in community activities and extracurricular activities.  The awards are made to underrepresented minority students  from Chesterfield County who will attend a four year institution of higher learning.

Two $1500 awards are designated for eligible students pursuing any course of study at an accredited 4-year institution. One $1000 scholarship is designated for a student pursing a degree in fine arts at an accredited 4-year institution.

 

Robert E. Lee Post 2239 VFW Scholarships

The scholarship committee plans to award five scholarships in the amount of $1000 each. One scholarship is reserved for each of the following High Schools: L.C. Bird, Thomas Dale, Matoaca, and Colonial Heights. The fifth scholarship is unrestricted and will be awarded to a student from any of the four schools at the discretion of the scholarship committee. High school seniors planning to attend a post secondary institution on a full time basis are invited to apply.  A list of activities and an essay describing future goals, as well as a letter of recommendation are required.  Contact high school guidance counselor for more information.

 

American Legion Post 284 and American Legion Department of Virginia Scholarships

American Legion Post 284 offers a number of scholarships for relatives of present and past post members.  They have also supplied links to a number of American Legion Department of Virginia scholarships which may not require one to be related to a particular post member.  See specifics on the link below.

 

Virginia School Counselor Association (VSCA) Student Scholarship

For high school seniors planning to pursue a post-secondary education.  An essay about a school counselor who has made a difference in your academic, career and/or social-emotional development is required.  The school counselor who the student writes about must be a certified school counselor and a member of the VSCA.
