Virginia Federation of Republican Women Political Studies Scholarship

This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students studying subjects directly related to

Political Science such as Political Science, Government, Law, Political Communications/Journalism, Public

Policy/Administration, International Relations, or Economics. The recipient of this scholarship will be a

young woman who is currently enrolled in an accredited college in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

 

 

 

Virginia Federation of Republican Women Political Science Scholarship

A VFRW Political Sciencel Scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student, graduate student or law student studying government, political science, law, or areas that are directly related to political science. The applicants should be young women who are enrolled in an accredited college or university in the State of Virginia.

 

Asparagus Club Scholarship Fund

Affiliated with the National Grocers Association and created to enhance the future of the grocery industry by investing in education.  Each year up to ten scholarships are awarded to rising fulltime college juniors, seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, food management or another relevant course of study leading to a career in the grocery industry.  A transcript, personal statement, resume and two letters of recommendation are required.

 

Virginia Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (VAFCS) Mary Margaret Barry Award

This graduate student scholarship is open to all members of VAFCS who have not previously received this award.  The scholarship is open to students majoring in all fields of study within Family and Consumer Sciences programs, however, preference will be given to those majoring in apparel, textiles, fashion design and merchandising or related areas.

 

Virginia Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (VAFCS) Ida B. Powell Graduate Scholarship

Must be a graduate student enrolled in a Virginia college or university and majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences.  The student must be a member of a professional organization of American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.  An overall GPA of 2.5 and a 3.0 in Family and Consumer Sciences classes are required.

 

Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters Scholarship

The VAPB awards this scholarship every other year to a Virginia college student interested in a broadcast career.  A minimum 200 words essay is required along with a resume and application.

 

Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Scholarship

Available to students pursuing careers in the dairy industry.  Applicant should be the child or employee of a Maryland & Virginia member or the child of a Maryland & Virginia employee.  Selection criteria based on commitment to the dairy industry, leadership, integrity, along with extracurricular activities.

 

Mid-Atlantic Nursery Trade Show, Inc. (MANTS) Carville M. Akehurst Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of one of the three MANTS member states listed.  Attendance at an institution within these states is not mandatory.  One must be an undergraduate or graduate student in a landscape/horticulture program or related discipline at a two or four year institution and carry a full time course load at the time of application and during the semesters for which the scholarship is granted.  A 2.7 overall GPA and a minimum 3.0 GPA in their major is required.

 

The Richmond Public Relations Foundation David P. Hurdle, William Dietrick and Daphne Lowell Dailey Memorial Scholarships

Three scholarships will be awarded to juniors or seniors of select Virginia colleges and universities who plan to pursue a career in public relations  One does not need to be a public relations major but should be planning to pursue work in public relations upon graduation.  An essay is required.  In addition to the colleges listed, the applicant may go to any college as long as their permanent residence is in this designated area:

Central Virginia residents are those living within the Richmond MSA, which includes the independent cities of Richmond, Petersburg, Hopewell and Colonial Heights; the counties of Amelia, Caroline, Charles City, Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Goochland, Hanover, Henrico, King William, New Kent, Powhatan, Prince George and Sussex; and the incorporated towns of Ashland and Bowling Green.

 

Virginia International Business Council Scholarship

VAIBC who supports international business in its community has established a scholarship program for college students in the State of Virginia.  Applicants should have an interest in International Business and be a rising undergraduate junior, senior or graduate student with a 3.0 GPA or better.  Please see link for additional criteria.

 

Mid-Atlantic Chapter, International Erosion Control Association Collegiate Scholarship

Several scholarships will be awarded to assist undergraduate students within a designated field of study associated with Erosion and Sediment Control.  Applicant must be a declared major at an accredited four-year college or university located in one of the Mid-Atlantic states listed and must be either a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior undergraduate.  Must have a career direction related to the field of Stormwater Management or Erosion and Sediment Control.  Possible fields of study could include environmental science, earth studies, and earth science, agricultural and civil engineering, soil science, agronomy, geology, hydrology, construction technology, forestry, agricultural science, and marine science.  Applicant must have a GPA of 2.75 or higher.

 

GRASP College Success Scholarship

To be eligible for this program students must participate in at least three GRASP College Success e-mail programs this academic year and have at least a 2.5 GPA for the year.  Financial need must be demonstrated and a current FAFSA form should have been filed.  An essay is required.

 

Women in Public Finance (Virginia Chapter) Mary Blackwell Barnes Memorial Scholarship

Applicant should be an enrolled female college or graduate level student who has exhibited scholastic achievement and demonstrated leadership skills who is interested in a career in finance, government, nonprofits, or public law.  Applicant should be enrolled in a Virginia or District of Columbia college or university for the upcoming fall semester.

 

Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants – Kearney & Company Scholarship

Scholarship #1 – Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a rising junior accounting major at Christopher Newport, George Mason University, James Madison University, Virginia Tech or Howard University.  Must be enrolled full-time during the term of application and throughout the term of scholarship in coursework required to qualify to take the CPA exam or enrolled part-time and employed a minimum of five hours a week.  Must have a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 2.7.  Must demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities.

Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants – (MJW) formerly Murray, Jonson, White and Associates Scholarship

Must be a U.S. citizen and a rising junior or senior accounting major with the intent to take the CPA exam.  Must have a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.0.  First preference :  student whose permanent residence is in Northern Virginia.  Second preference:  student whose permanent residence is in Virginia.

 

Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants – Michael E. Mares Scholarship

Must be a rising junior or senior accounting major currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university with the intent to take the CPA exam.  Must be enrolled full-time during the term of application and throughout the term of scholarship coursework required to take the CPA exam.  Must demonstrate a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.0 and be involved in extracurricular activities.   Must be a U.S. citizen.

 

Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants – H. Burton Bates, Jr. Scholarship

Applicants should be a full-time rising junior or senior accounting major currently OR have earned an undergraduate degree from an accredited Virginia college or university and enrolled at least part-time taking additional coursework in order to take the CPA exam.  Must demonstrate a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.0 and be a U.S. citizen.

 

Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants – Past Presidents/Chair Scholarship

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university as an undergraduate with the intent to pursue a degree in accounting.  Must demonstrate academic excellence with an overall and accounting GPA of at least 3.0  and have financial need.  Must have completed at least three hours of accounting and be currently registered for  at least three more accounting credit hours.  Essay required demonstrating leadership potential.

 

Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants – Graduate Accounting Scholarship

Applicant must be a U.S. citizen and currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university as a graduate student with the intent to pursue a degree in accounting.  Must demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.

 

Virginia Professional Communicators/Virginia Press Women Foundation – Agnes Cooke Scholarship

This scholarship is open to any male or female Virginia college student or any Virginia resident attending an out-of-state college.  Applicants must be planning a career in journalism, photojournalism, public relations or another related communications field.  The competition is open to students who are undergraduates or graduate students.  Members of Virginia Professional Communicators will receive additional consideration.

 

The Arts Club of Washington Scholarship Competition in Sculpture and Ceramic Arts

The Arts Club of Washington sponsors an annual scholarship to recognize promising students specializing in a specific art form or medium. In 2017, the scholarship will be awarded to students in sculpture and ceramic arts.  The competition is open to individual college students studying sculpture and/or ceramic arts in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia who are at least 18 years of age, but have not reached their 27th birthday by January 1, 2017.

 

Mid-Atlantic Security Traders Foundation Scholarship

Eligible candidates should be undergraduates who are currently sophomore or junior business majors with a concentration in finance or economics and who are enrolled at a four-year state-sponsored or private college or university. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens.  Applicants will be evaluated on GPA, awards/academic honors received in and out of college, extracurricular/school/athletic activities and a 500 word essay entitled “How the securities markets affect our daily lives.”  Two letters of reference are also required.

 

Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association Professional Development Scholarship – For Attendance of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposia

A one-time scholarship to a deserving student currently enrolled in their final year at an in-state CAATE-accredited athletic training education program or a graduate assistant certified athletic trainer who is in their final year of an in-state post-graduate program in the State of Virginia, in order to attend the above mentioned symposia.  Criteria for selection includes scholarship ability, leadership ability, citizenship/community service and dedication/interest in athletic training.  Two letters of recommendation ( one of which must be from your NCAT) are required, along with other conditions of eligibility and verification of attendance and expenses related to the symposia upon return.

 

Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association-College/University Scholarship Award

A one-time scholarship to a deserving college/university student who will be entering their final year of an Accredited Athletic Training Education Program in the State of Virginia.  The program seeks to recognize a student for their scholarship ability, leadership ability, citizenship/community service and dedication/interest in athletic training.  Two letters of recommendation (one of which must be from your NCAT) are required.

 

Virginia Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society – HIMSS – Scholarship

Available for a student of health information technology or informatics.  Must be a Virginia student member in good standing of the HIMMS National and Virginia chapters.  Must attend a school in Virginia on a part time or full time basis, but should be part of a formalized program that leads to a specific degree in the associated field.  Must be willing to actively participate as a Student Liaison to the Chapter Board if selected. Two scholarships are available for 2017.

 

General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Virginia – Phyllis V. Roberts Scholarship

2016-18 scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student in the field of Food Science/Nutritional Science, whose goal is to work in the field of Human Nutrition or Nutritional Science or Food Science, while helping to address food insecurity in our communities.

 

Virginia P.E.O. State Scholarship Fund – Lottie E. Driver Scholarship

 For women domiciled in Virginia to attend an accredited Virginia school of higher education on a full time basis.  Applicant should have a minimum GPA of 3.0, have financial need, be well rounded and studying in the field of education. Three current character recommendations are required

 

Virginia P.E.O. Foundation State Scholarship Fund

Available to women domiciled in Virginia to attend an accredited Virginia school of higher education on a full time basis. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, have financial need and be well-rounded in activities and have life or career goals that can be met through a specific field of study.  Three current character recommendations are required. 

The Jeannette McDonald Scholarship is awarded to the woman with the highest GPA of those selected for scholarships from the VSSF.  The Mary Pinkerton Scholarship is awarded to the woman with the second highest GPA of those selected.  The Janice H. Bruner Scholarship is awarded to the woman with the third highest GPA of those selected.

 

Media Fellows Program Scholarships

The Washington Media Scholars Foundation sponsors this scholarship to support the academic development of undergraduates dedicated to pursuing a career related to the public policy advertising industry.  Applicants are required to submit a 500-word essay and one letter of recommendation.  Finalists must also complete a telephone interview.  There are two opportunities to apply and earn the Fellows scholarship:  summer and fall.

 

Communication Disorders Foundation of Virginia (CDF) Graduate Student Scholarships

The CDF is offering two graduate student scholarships; the Rita Purcell-Robertson Scholarship in the amount of $3,000 and the David H. Narburgh Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.  These scholarships recognize students who have demonstrated outstanding clinical potential.  These awards will be granted to current or rising master’s degree students in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology who are enrolled in one of the following universities in Virginia:  Hampton University, James Madison University, Longwood University, Old Dominion University, Radford University, or the University of Virginia.  See link for application and further requirements.

 

Henrico Federal Credit Union (Continuing Studies Scholarship)

Will be awarded to an area student of any age who is planning to continue their formal education.  Applicants must be a member of the Henrico FCU or the child of a Henrico FCU member.  Applicants may apply for this scholarship more than once but cannot win in consecutive years.

 

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Fellowships

Available for college bound high school seniors, undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professional artists.  Fellowship applicants’ works will be reviewed anonymously by distinquished jurors.  Applicants may submit only one application for one of the disciplines listed on the VMFA link.  Applicants must submit a fellowship application form, a work sample as outlined for a particular discipline, a current resume, artistic statement, and transcript.

 

American Water Works Association – Virginia Water Environment Association – Ray A. Jackson Scholarship

Available to a full time undergraduate student member of AWWA attending school in Virginia currently and in the Fall semester, with a career goal of serving in the water industry.  Requirements include:  a resume highlighting your academic and extracurricular performance and activities, an unofficial or official transcript or official semester schedule of school currently attending, and a completed application.. One must be a member of the American Water Works Association and supply one of the following:  A reference letter from an instructor or professor or a one-page essay on a water topic of your choice.

 

BayPort Credit Union – Directors Scholarship

Must be a full time undergraduate or graduate student who is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, trade or vocational school and a member of the credit union.  Six one-time awards of $1,500 each are available.  The money will be paid directly to the college or university.  Applicants must write an essay on “Why I need the funds” and provide a copy of their current transcripts.

 

The Associated General Contractors of Virginia (AGCVA) Scholarships

Applicant must be planning a career in construction.  Applicant must be a full time resident of Virginia.  See link for further information.

 

NEWH-Washington D. C./Virginia Chapter Scholarship

This scholarship is offered by the Washington D.C./Virginia Chapter of NEWH, Inc., the Hospitality Industry Network. Applicants must meet the following qualifications: attending an accredited institution of higher learning; must have completed one half of the requirements for a degree or certification in the program in which you are currently enrolled; must show financial need; must have a 3.0 GPA or better; must have a career objective in one of the areas of the Hospitality Industry (i.e. Hotel/Restaurant Management, Culinary/Foodservice, Architecture, Interior Design, etc.)

 

American Water Works Association – Virginia Water Environment Association – Graduate Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded annually by VWEA to a full or part time graduate student who is a member of VWEA and attending school in Virginia currently and in the upcoming Fall semester.  Judging of the applicants is performed by the VWEA Student Activities Committee and based on merit.  Requirements include a one-page resume indicating academic and extracurricular performance and activities, and either a reference letter from an instructor or professor or a one-page essay on a wastewater topic of your choice.  One must supply an up-to-date transcript or official semester schedule of school currently attending and a completed VWEA Student Scholarship application.

 

Virginia Educators Credit Union Clarence E. McKoy Memorial Scholarship

The Clarence E. McKoy Memorial Scholarship is limited to students enrolled in a four-year program. Each applicant must:

• Be a member of Virginia Educators Credit Union (VECU) who has not previously been awarded a scholarship from VECU.

• Be a full-time student at a post-secondary institution.

• Have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher and submit an essay along with a sealed copy of your most recent college transcript.

 

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Yount, Hyde & Barbour Annual Scholarship

Awarded to a junior or senior accounting major currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university who has demonstrated academic excellence, financial need, and is pursuing a career in public accounting.  Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and intending to take the CPA Exam.

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Wall, Einhorn & Chernitzer Annual Scholarship

Awarded to a junior or senior accounting major who has demonstrated academic excellence, financial need, and is pursuing a career in public accounting.  Applicant must demonstrate a minimum GPA of 3.0 and intending to take the CPA Exam.

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Undergraduate Scholarship

Open to undergraduate students currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.  Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and have GPA of at least 3.0.  Applicant must have completed at least three (3) hours of accounting and be currently registered for at least three (3) more accounting credit hours .

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Thomas M. Berry Jr. Annual Scholarship

Awarded to a student who has demonstrated academic excellence, financial need and exemplary leadership skills. Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university undergraduate or graduate program with the intent to pursue a degree in accounting with plans to take the CPA exam.

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Minority Scholarship

Open to students currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university undergraduate accounting program who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.  Applicant must be a member of one of the following race/ethnic groups: American Indian or Alaskan Native, Asian, Black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander or other minority group. Must have GPA of at least 3.0, must have completed at least 3 hours of accounting credits and be enrolled for at least 3 more hours of accounting.

 

Virginia Society of CPAs Educational Foundation – Dixon Hughes Goodman Scholarship

Awarded to a junior, senior or fifth year undergraduate or graduate accounting major currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university who has demonstrated academic excellence, financial need, and is pursuing a career in public accounting.  Applicant must demonstrate a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.3, and intend to take the CPA exam.

Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs Scholarships

Open to college students that are majoring in horticulture and related fields.  The Thelma W. Utt, Rita M. Costello, and Peg Grinus Scholarships are offered to students at any Virginia college.  The Minna D. Adams and The President’s Horticulture Scholarships are awarded to students of Virginia Tech.

 

Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics Scholarship (Edward A. Anderson, Scholarship Program)

For Virginia residents who are full-time students at a Virginia college or university graduating in FALL 2018, SPRING 2019, or SUMMER 2019 and enrolled in a degree-seeking program with a concentration or a major in mathematics and plan to teach mathematics in a Virginia school.

 

Virginia Society of Landscape Designers

Open to Virginia residents who are college students interested in pursuing a career in landscape design.  Must have cumulative GPA of 3.0, and be currently enrolled in a curriculum which includes landscape design courses.  Financial need may be a determining factor in the final decision.  

 

Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance – James G. Browder, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Open to college freshman, sophomore or junior young men and women pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Construction Management at a Commonwealth of Virginia four-year institution.  This scholarship is sponsored by the VTCA Architectural/Engineering membership.

 

Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance – Aggregate Scholarship

Open to freshman, sophomore or junior young men and women pursuing a degree in one of the following areas:  Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Geology or Mining and Mineral Engineering in a Commonwealth of Virginia four-year institution.

 

Virginia Space Grant Consortium – Undergraduate STEM Research Scholarship Program

For undergraduate students enrolled in a Virginia Space Grant university pursuing any field of study with aerospace relevance and actively engaged in a research project.

 

Virginia Space Grant Consortium – Community College STEM Scholarship

Open to students enrolled full time (min. 12 credit hours) at one of Virginia’s community colleges majoring in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) field and interested in pursuing a career that supports NASA’s mission. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

 

Richmond Paralegal Association – Jean Proffitt and Susan Brewer, Esq. Scholarship Fund

Open to students who are attending a paralegal program at an approved school in the Richmond metro area, on a part-time or full-time basis, and have completed the equivalent of 9 semester hours in the program. Applicants who have completed at least 12 semester hours will be given higher consideration.

 

National Garden Club South Atlantic Region – Corrie Whitlock Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a college sophomore or junior for use during the junior or senior year of college and majoring in the study of Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Design, Botany, Plant Pathology, Biology, Forestry, Agronomy, Environmental Concerns, City Planning, Land Management and/or allied subjects.

 

Bailey Family Foundation – College Scholarship

Open to students who have demonstrated scholastic achievement and financial need. Applicants must have GPA of 2.5, demonstrate financial need, be a U.S. resident, be enrolled or accepted to one of the participating schools listed on the application, and be pursuing an undergraduate degree.

 

Ashland Strawberry Faire – Dick Gillis Memorial Scholarship

Open to any student at Randolph-Macon College majoring in Political Science.

 

American Association of Candy Technologists – John Kitt Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must be attending an accredited 4-year college in North America, majoring in food science, chemical science, biological science or related field, and have a demonstrated interest in confectionary technology.

 

Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA) Educational Foundation Scholarships

Applicant must be a United States citizen.  Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited Virginia college or university undergraduate or graduate program with the intent to pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Applicant must have completed at least three hours of accounting. 

 

Construction Specifications Institute, Richmond Chapter – Norman Jacobs Scholarship

Open to full-time students majoring in architecture, a construction-related field of engineering, or building construction, in an accredited Virginia college or university program.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Henricopolis Soil & Water Conservation District (college)

Open to Henrico County residents majoring in a conservation-related field.  Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and a faculty recommendation.
