Virginia High School League – Col. Charles E. Savedge Student Journalist Scholarship

Open to graduating seniors with a minimum of 2 staff years on yearbook, newspaper/magazine or equivalent participation through contributions to community or professional publications. Applicants must demonstrate leadership, writing skills, design aptitude, creativity, organization, industry, teamwork, and character. Applicants apply to an accredited college/university and be nominated by a faculty member.

 

Central VA Chapter-National Forum for Black Public Administrators Manuel Deese Scholarship Award Program

The student must be a U.S. citizen and reside in the Central Virginia area

Siblings or relatives of active members who meet all other eligibility and criteria may be given extra consideration for scholarships

Full time students will be given priority consideration for scholarships

The student must be an African-American high school senior, undergraduate or graduate student enrolled or enrolling in a college or university setting in an accredited public administration program or other field that could lead to a career in public administration

The student must maintain a good academic standing; GPA 2.5 or higher

The student must complete and submit an application packet.

 

 

 

Virginia Department of Education – Granville P. Meade Scholarship

Open to residents of Virginia who are high school seniors expecting to attend college.  Students are selected based on GPA, standardized test scores, letters of recommendation, extracurricular activities, and financial need. See Guidance Office for application.

 

Brookfield Homes – Lisa Sechrist Memorial Scholarship

Open to underprivileged women to finance their higher education.  Must be HS graduate, applied or accepted to accredited 4-year college or university, or other post-high school institution.  Special consideration given to members of honors society or sports or other extra-curricular activity.

 

Bettie Weaver Elementary School PTA Scholarship

The PTA of Bettie Weaver Elementary School (BWE) has established a scholarship grant of $500 to a college-bound graduating senior. Open to any college-bound graduating senior who attended Bettie Weaver Elementary School for all or part of elementary school. Candidates should demonstrate respect and awareness for his/her community and the environment. Volunteer work aimed at the conservation of natural resources (i.e. planting trees, maintenance of wooded hiking trails, recycling, energy/water/soil conservation) and/or other volunteer involvement in the local community is of special interest.  See High School Counselor.

 

Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Scholarship Program

Qualified candidates should have an interest in pursuing a career in domestic or international business which could be in the area of accounting, corporate law, marketing, finance, investment banking, real estate, etc. Selection criteria includes a combination of academic achievement, demonstrated leadership ability, desire to pursue a business career, work experience, community service and recommendations. Financial need may also be used as part of the selection criteria. Accreditation is required of high schools and colleges. Applicant must be a legal resident of Central Virginia.

 

Armenian Education Center of Virginia

Each year the Armenian Education Center awards a scholarship to the winner of their essay contest. These essay questions help students to generate awareness and build a general understanding of the Armenian Genocide.  This scholarship is available to 9-12 grade students.

 

American Saddlebred Horse Association of Virginia Scholarship

Open to high school graduate members of ASHAV under age 21 who demonstrate financial need, a commitment to the American Saddlebred industry, and academic success.
