Recent Scholarships

The Virginia Sheriffs’ Scholarship

Applicants must pursue an educational curriculum in criminal justice; however, those majoring in law will not be considered a criminal justice major.  Students must live in a locality where the sheriff is a member of the Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute and has authorized the Institute to conduct fundraising for the scholarship program.  Only students accepted to Virginia colleges and universities will be considered.  A letter of recommendation from the sheriff in the jurisdiction where the student lives is required.  High school or college transcripts required.  SAT scores for incoming freshmen required.  Essay required.  Two scholarships will be awarded, one to full time students and one to part time students.

 

The Associated General Contractors of Virginia (AGCVA) Scholarships

Applicant must be planning a career in construction.  Applicant must be a full time resident of Virginia.  See link for further information.

 

Midlothian Junior Women’s Club Leadership Scholarship

Must have attended a Chesterfield County Public School and be a female who has demonstrated exemplary service to school and community and planning to attend college in the fall.  Contact high school guidance counselor for more information.

 

Chesterfield Retired Teachers Association Scholarship

Student must have financial need, demonstrate the potential to succeed and plan to pursue teaching as a profession.  See high school guidance office for application.

 

Developing Community Leaders Award-Hanover Chamber of Commerce and Camptown Charities Scholarship

Hanover County high school senior must be pursuing business studies, leadership, or specialized skills training and shows potential in business, a strong work ethic, leadership qualities, and involvement in the community.  One scholarship will be awarded for each Hanover County high school.  Essay, recommendation and transcript required. Contact high school guidance counselor for more details.  Deadline extended to April 17, 2020.

 

 

Washington Henry Elementary School PTA Scholarship

Available for students who attended Washington Henry Elementary School for at least 3 years.  See high school guidance counselor for more information.

 

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative Community Scholarships

Applicants must:

  • Have a parent or guardian who is an REC member or be an REC member themselves
  • Be a senior in high school or a college student in Virginia
  • Be 21 or younger
  • Be enrolled, or planning to enroll, in an accredited institution or training program

 

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority – Pi Rho Omega Chapter – Diane M. Roberts Scholarship

Must be an African-American female, high school senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and attend high school in the Richmond Metro area (Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover or Richmond)  Essay required.  Based on financial need.

 

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority – Pi Rho Omega Chapter – Tommye R. Finley Scholarship

Must be an African-American female, high school senior with a GPA of 3.5 or higher and attend high school in the Richmond Metro area (Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover or Richmond)  Essay required.  Deadline extended to May 1, 2020

 

GFWC Worthington Woman’s Club-Wanda K. Alexander Scholarship

Open to Chesterfield County high school seniors.  Applicant should be involved in community service and two letters of recommendation and an essay are required.  See high school counselor for more details.
