Recent Scholarships

Quioccasin (formerly Byrd Middle School) – Lonnie E. Gailes Scholarship Program

Must have attended Harry F. Byrd Middle School, now Quioccasin for at least 2 years to be eligible.  The scholarship award is based on high moral character, leadership skills, and active school/community involvement.  Contact high school guidance counselor for additional information.

 

Pemberton Elementary School – A.P. Hall Scholarship

Eligibility: The scholarship is open to former Pemberton Elementary School
students who will graduate from a Henrico County Public School or Maggie L.
Walker Governor’s School.
Requirements:
● Completed Pemberton A.P. Hall Scholarship Application, including
resume, copy of transcript, essay and letter of recommendation.
● Minimum GPA: 3.0
● Minimum SAT score: 900

 

Virginia Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE)

Our mission: To provide direct input into the deliberations and developments of energy policies, regulations, emerging technologies, and environmental issues.

We are proud to award 7 scholarships annually:

  • Six scholarships at $3K each
  • One scholarship at $5K (this is a reoccurring scholarship for up to 4 years as long as the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA and remains enrolled in an eligible Major).

 

Rotary Club of Goochland – Service Above Self Scholarship

Applicant must attend Goochland High School or live in Goochland County and plan to attend a two- or four-year college or university.  Dependents of members of the Rotary Club of Goochland are not eligible.  Applicant must have commitment to community service and supply a written statement as outlined on application, along with a copy of their current transcript and at least two letters of recommendation.

 

Rich Murray Journalism Scholarship

Sponsored by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.  Presented annually to a Virginia high school student who excels in the area of sports journalism and is pursuing a college degree in journalism, communications, or a related field, preferably at an institution in Virginia.

 

Community Foundation – Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer Scholarship

An eligible student must be a communing member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Petersburg, Va.  A personal essay is required and the scholarship committee will consider academic work and participation in school activities through evaluation of the student’s GPA and SAT scores, as well as letters of recommendation and extracurricular involvement.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Weinstein Properties Scholarship for the Visual and Performing Arts

To promote continuing education in the field of visual and performing arts.  Individual should have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better, have demonstrated commitment of community service and have financial need.  Institutions may include community college or four year colleges/universities.  Available for seniors graduating from The Appomattox Regional Governor’s School.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 637, Otis Berry Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must have a 3.0 or better G.P.A. in high school and a 2.0 for current college students.  Must have financial need, demonstrated volunteer service and three letters of recommendation as evidence of good citizenship.  Priority may be given to a child or grandchild of a member of the VFW, Post 637, or the VFW, Post 637 Auxiliary.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Nancy J. Seavy Memorial Scholarship

For students pursuing a career in education or the arts or a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Government, Jounalism or Marketing.  Must have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better with extracurricular activities and active participation in the community.  Must have financial need.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Matt Saye Memorial Scholarship

Applicant should plan to pursue a career in criminal justice, legal/law enforcement, physical therapy or speech pathology or has been a member of the Prince George High School baseball team, or will continue their baseball career at an institution which may include technical, community or a four year college OR is a dependent of a full time or part time police or corrections officer.  Students who are currently participating in such a program may also apply.   Applicants must demonstrate extra-curricular involvement, good citizenship, financial need and volunteer service to the community.
