Recent Scholarships

Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship

The program is geared toward high school and college undergraduate students planning to pursue a major in engineering or computer science, who demonstrate financial need and come from an underrepresented group or underserved community.  Recipients will also be eligible for a paid Lockheed Martin internship opportunity.

 

Buddy Pelletier Surfing Foundation Scholarship

These scholarships will be limited to members of the East Coast Surfing community. Students of all ages are eligible. Rising high school seniors and college undergraduate students or returning students may apply. Applicants and previous winners may reapply each year.

 

Rueben R. Cowles Youth Educational Award

The Reuben R. Cowles Youth Educational Award is awarded to young Jersey cow owners from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia who are at least high school seniors but not older than 36 years of age.

 

Brown v. Board of Education Scholarship Program

The Brown v. Board of Education Scholarship Program was established in accordance with § 30-231.8 of the Code of Virginia for the purpose of providing a public education to persons who were denied an education in the public schools of Virginia between 1954 and 1964, in jurisdictions in which the public schools were closed to avoid desegregation.

 

Virginia Writers Club Scholarship

The following Virginia residents are eligible to compete for the VWC College Scholarship(s): 

High School Students – Applicant must currently be a high school or a home-schooled senior who will be enrolled at an accredited college or university during the next academic year and studying a field related to writing (English, journalism, creative writing, etc.) Must have a GPA of 2.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.

College Students – Applicant must be a college/university freshman who has a writing-related major (i.e., English, Journalism, etc.) Freshmen who are former VWC High School Scholarship awardees are also eligible. Must have a GPA of 2.0 or better on a 4.0 scale.

Included in the scholarship requirements is an assigned essay topic.

 

Richmond Flying Squirrels All-Star Legacy Scholarship

Qualifications:
• Has met with a Great Aspirations Scholarship Program, Inc. (GRASP) advisor and filed a Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
• Will graduate from an RVA region* high school in spring of 2024.
• Will attend a four-year college or university, community college, or junior college in the upcoming
academic year.
• Demonstrates unmet financial need (A college financial aid award letter will be requested before
scholarship is granted.)
• Has participated in a school or community athletic sport during high school. 

 

Filipino American Association of Central Virginia Scholarship

The applicant should be a senior from a high school in Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, or the City of Richmond who is planning to attend college.  A 3.5 GPA or higher is required, along with a short essay and two letters of recommendation.  Contact high school counselor for application.

 

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Rho Iota Lambda Chapter and The 423 Fund Scholarships

The purpose of the 423 Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarships to deserving high school graduating seniors intending to pursue a course of study at either a vocational, two-year, or four-year educational institution. The ideal applicant should possess a minimum GPA of 2.5.  An essay is required.

 

Chesterfield Cheerleader League Scholarships

Applicant should be a Chesterfield senior who has cheered for a league member athletic association and plans to pursue a post secondary college education.  Two letters of recommendation are required.

 

Sigma Phi Epsilon – Balanced Man Scholarship

Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity chapters at many of the colleges in Virginia are offering $10,000 in scholarships to incoming freshmen men.

Applicants have no obligation to join or affiliate with SigEp to be eligible. This resource is intended to assist with college affordability while introducing students to campus life opportunities.
