American Institute of Architects (AIA)-Richmond Chapter Scholarship

High school seniors who have been accepted into a college or university and plan to pursue a degree in architecture are eligible for this scholarship.  Letters of recommendation are required along with an essay on a chosen topic.

 

Virginia War Memorial Veterans Day Essay Contest

This contest is open to all Virginia Middle and High School public, private, or homeschooled students. A winning entry will be chosen from each Grade Range (grades 6-8 and 9-12).

2. Submissions must be between 500-750 words and use at least one primary source. Students must properly cite their sources in a bibliography (APA or MLA style) and include the bibliography with their submission.

3. Entries will be judged on clarity of thought, adherence to the contest theme and guidelines, and proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College offers multiple scholarship opportunities for those who have applied and will attend.

 

Virginia Federation of Republican Women Kendall Rhodes Memorial Scholarship

The VFRW is offering this scholarship to a graduating female high school senior who will be majoring in education.  The recipient must plan to attend an accredited college or university in the State of Virginia

 

Virginia Federation of Republican Women Political Studies Scholarship

This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students studying subjects directly related to Political Science such as Political Science, Government, Law, Political Communications/Journalism, Public Policy/Administration, International Relations, or Economics. The recipient of this scholarship will be a young woman who is currently enrolled in an accredited college in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

 

 

 

Virginia Airport Operators Council (VAOC) Kenneth R. Scott Scholarship

Named in honor of Ken Scott for his contribution to the advancement of airport management in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  For your application to be considered one must have at least a 3.5 unweighted GPA, be planning a career in the field of aviation and accepted into an aviation related program at an accredited college.

 

LawnStarter Lawntrepreneur Scholarship

Available for a Richmond area student who is passionate about entrepreneurship.  A scholarship is offered for each of spring and fall semesters (see deadlines below).

  1. You currently own a lawn care business, ran a lawn care business in the past, or plan on starting a business upon graduating college.

  2. You’re passionate and ambitious.

  3. You have the willpower, work ethic, and desire to build the next great business.

  4. You are a high school senior (who is going to pursue college degree) or full-time college student enrolled in a two year, four year, or graduate program. This scholarship is open to all majors.

 

Leadership For The 21st Century Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by the Chesterfield County Black History Month Committee for all eligible CCPS students.

Open to all CCPS seniors planning to attend a VIRGINIA college/university.
6 recipients will be selected: one(1) from each of the five magisterial districts of
Chesterfield County and one (1) student from our regional schools (Maggie Walker
Governor’s School, Appomattox Regional Governor’s School, or CodeRVA Regional
High School).

 

John Randolph Foundation – Anne Moncrief Layman Nursing Scholarship

Applicant should be currently attending or have an interest in attending college as an undergraduate or graduate student to become a registered nurse.  A GPA of 3.0 or better is required and financial need must be demonstrated.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Friends of Lower Appomattox River (FOLAR) Environmental Stewardship Scholarship

Priority may be given to a student with an interest in pursuing an environmental-related career and extracurricular participation in an environmental service program is highly recommended.  The applicant should have a 3.0 GPA or better.  The award is based on academic record, plan of study, career goals, recommendations and extra-curricular activities with no consideration of financial need, sex, race, national origin, or physical ability.

 

Carolinas-Virginias Retail Hardware Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to provide undergraduate scholarships to children of employees of member firms of this region of the National Retail Hardware Association.

 

Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads – Anne J. Gwaltney Scholarship

To be eligible for the scholarship:

1) You or your parent must have been a member of the VAVRS, AVAVRS, or VAJVRS for at least 2 years.

2) You must be accepted at a fully accredited college or university or waiting acceptance at an institution that meets the criteria.

3) You must be less than 35 years old during the calendar year in which you are receiving the award.

4) You cannot have received this award before.

 

Asparagus Club Scholarship Fund

Affiliated with the National Grocers Association and created to enhance the future of the grocery industry by investing in education.  Each year scholarships are awarded to rising full time college sophomores , seniors, or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, food management or another relevant course of study leading to a career in the grocery industry.  A transcript, personal statement, resume and two letters of recommendation are required.

 

Rosecrest Garden Club Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a Richmond area high school senior. Rosecrest Garden Club seeks to promote careers for students pursuing a degree in the following: horticulture,
agriculture, organic science, landscape architecture and design, and turf management.   Applicants should have a 3.0 GPA or higher and will need to supply two letters of recommendation.

 

Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association Hospitality Scholarships

The VRLTAEF offers annual scholarships to provide financial assistance to worthy individuals studying in the hospitality industry. Scholarships are designed to provide assistance to deserving students seeking to further their knowledge at all levels of higher education.  See link for multiple scholarship opportunities.

 

Southside Electric Cooperative Education Opportunity Fund Scholarship

Applicant must live in the Southside Electric service area.  Financial need, academic achievement and a personal statement are required.

 

Junior Achievement of Central Virginia Future Laureate Scholarship

This competition is open to students currently enrolled in 9th-12th grade who have participated in at least one JA of Central Virginia program while enrolled in high school, including through external organizations. Up to one award will be given to a high school senior. Multiple awards may be given.

 

Capital One Virginia Military Dependent Scholarship

Applicant should be a resident of, or attending a high school in Virginia, who is a senior with a parent/guardian as an active duty service member.  The student must attend college in the upcoming academic year.

 

Virginia School Plant Managers Association Annual Scholarships

Open to students who are high school seniors, have earned a GED or attend college or technical school as a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year student.  The student’s learning should be focused on the areas of building design, building construction, building engineering or facilities maintenance.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Dr. C. E. Myers and Olive S. Myers Memorial Endowment

Must be a resident of Hanover County.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Roger Gregory, Jr. and Emma E. Gregory Memorial Endowment by St. Peters Parish Church

Open to residents of Charles City, New Kent or King William Counties pursuing a college education to study agriculture, forestry or environmental science. Preference given to previous recipient of this award.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Larry Gay Memorial Endowment

Applicant should be a member or dependent of a member of the Virginia Grain Producers Association or an employee or dependent of an employee of at least one year of a producer member of this association.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Jack Ferguson Endowment by Henrico 4H/Henrico Extension

To be eligible one must have a minimum of three years membership in the Henrico 4H program.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – H. Earl Longest Endowment

Must reside in Colonial Farm Credit territory and major in ag-related field or come from a farming background.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Tom Goerger Memorial Endowment

Must reside in Colonial Farm Credit territory and major in ag-related field or come from a farming background.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Colonial Farm Credit Endowment

Must be a resident of Colonial Farm Credit’s chartered lending territory with an agricultural background who will major in an agricultural related field.

 

Community Foundation – Hill Family Scholarship Autism Spectrum

This scholarship will be awarded to a public or private high school senior who has a diagnosis on the Autism Spectrum, verified by an IEP, a 504 Plan, or confirmation from a special education teacher.  The student must demonstrate scholastic commitment and academic promise, and plan to enroll in an accredited college or university or a community college in the US.

A personal statement is required.

 

HCPS Teacher Scholars’ Program

Specifically for students interested in teaching and pursuing a career with Henrico County Public Schools after graduating college. HCPS wants to fill positions in areas where there is a critical shortage, including Spanish, Math, Exceptional Education, Science, Technology and Family & Consumer Sciences.  Contact high school counselor for additional details.

 

Community Foundation – Dick Glover Virginia Wrestling Scholarship Fund

Applicant must be a graduating high school senior and a member of the Virginia Wrestling Association.  The student must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, community commitment and financial need.

 

Strong Men & Women in Virginia History 2024 Student Creative Expressions Contest


High school students in Virginia are invited to honor outstanding African Americans by participating in Dominion Energy and the Library of Virginia’s Strong Men & Women in Virginia History student contest. This year’s contest is built around the inquiry process of project-based learning and is designed to hit grade-specific standards through a multidisciplinary approach. While analyzing historical and contemporary injustices, students will use and develop creative and critical thinking skills. Winners will receive an Apple MacBook Air and $1,000 for their schools. Four winning projects will be chosen, one project from each of four regions in the state.
