Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads – The Kevin Dillard Leadership of Tomorrow Scholarship

  • You must have been a member of the VAVRS, AVAVRS, the VAJVRS for at least 2 years, or be a child or grandchild of a person who has been a member for 5 years.
  • You must be accepted at a fully accredited college or University or waiting acceptance at an institution that meets these criteria.  (The scholarship will not be awarded until you have been accepted.)
  • You may not have received this scholarship before.
  • Essay – Describe an event in which you took on a leadership role and what you learned about yourself during the during the duration of that role.

 

Cameron K. Gallagher SpeakUp Scholarship

This scholarship is available to high school seniors who are members of a SpeakUp Club. Two winners will each receive an award in the amount of $2,500. The winners will be announced at our You Are Worth It All Teen Mental Health Festival in April.

 

Bayport Credit Union Scholarships

$100,000 in college scholarships.

The Foundation offers 11 different scholarships to high school seniors, college students, and full-time working adults going back to school.

 

Virginia 811 Scholarship

Virginia 811 will award one $1,500 scholarship for one-year, to a student planning to enroll in a community college degree program, an accredited trade school program or four-year college or university beginning fall 2025.  Individual must meet the following criteria*:

  • Applicants may be a 2025 graduating high school senior or adult learner planning to pursue an accreditation or academic degree
  • For high school graduating applicant, parent or guardian is employed in the underground utility protection stakeholder community (excavator, locator, or member utility)
  • For adult learner, individual is pursuing accreditation related to underground utility protection stakeholder community (excavator, locator, or member utility)
  • Applicants must be planning to enroll beginning Fall of 2025 at one of the following:
  • Community College
  • Accredited Trade School Program
  • A four-year, accredited, college or university

 

M. W. Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia Free and Accepted Masons Scholarship Fund for Continuing Education

Through the M. W. PRINCE HALL GRAND LODGE OF VIRGINIA Continuing SCHOLARSHIP FUND, continuing scholarships will be awarded to 2nd, 3rd & 4th year students who are the children or grandchildren of a Prince Hall Mason in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Continuing scholarships are available to 2nd, 3rd & 4th year students. They are ranked based on academic achievement (minimum 2.0 GPA), leadership, service, and participation in activities both in and out of school.

 

 

Argent Credit Union – Rose E. Baggerly Rising Leaders Scholarship

The Rose E. Baggerly Scholarship was created to honor Rose’s many years of dedication to the credit union and its members.   Her commitment to the membership extended beyond the credit union walls, and she served in many volunteer and leadership capacities for organizations dedicated to the credit union movement in Virginia.

Argent Credit Union is excited to be able to hand-select one very deserving high school senior who will receive a $2,500 scholarship towards their college education.

 

Long Nguyen and Kimmy Duong Scholarship Program for Vietnamese American Students

The Kimmy Duong Foundation established the Long Nguyen and Kimmy Duong Scholarship Program in 2017, as a way for Ms. Kimmy to support her adopted country, the United States of America.

The scholarships will be available to students who demonstrate:
· Outstanding academic achievement,
· Strong leadership potential,
· A track record of service to the Vietnamese and American communities,
· Pride in their Vietnamese culture and heritage; and,
· A passion for applying their academic background to create a better world, both in the United States and in Vietnam.

 

Rueben R. Cowles Youth Educational Award

The Reuben R. Cowles Youth Educational Award is awarded to young Jersey cow owners from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia who are at least high school seniors but not older than 36 years of age.

 

Korean American Scholarship Foundation – Eastern Regional Chapter Korean War Veteran Descendant Scholarship

Requirements

* Direct American descendant of an American Korean War Veteran who served in Korea from June 25, 1950 – January 31, 1955 (Korean War Era, as designated by the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs) in the United States Armed Forces: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or those who qualify as a Regular Member of the US Korean War Veterans Association, Inc.

* Full-time undergraduate or graduate student.

*Attend a school located in the KASF Eastern Region

*Have a 3.0 or higher GPA

*Have financial need

To be eligible for the scholarship:

1) You or your parent must have been a member of the VAVRS, AVAVRS, or VAJVRS for at least 2 years

2) You must be accepted at a fully accredited college or university or waiting acceptance at an institution in the field of Architecture or the Medical field which is the criteria for this scholarship

3) You must be less than 65 years old during the calendar year in which you are receiving the award

4) You cannot have received this award before

 

 

 

American Legion Post 284 and American Legion Department of Virginia Scholarships

American Legion Post 284 offers a number of scholarships for relatives of present and past post members.  They have also supplied links to a number of American Legion Department of Virginia scholarships which may not require one to be related to a particular post member.  See specifics on the link below.

 

Homebase Credit Union – Excellence in Leadership Scholarships

  • Homebase Credit Union greatly values education and lifelong learning. Each year, we award scholarships to four graduating seniors within our membership. Qualified students submit applications and are judged anonymously on academic merit, personal achievements, demonstrated leadership experience, extra-curricular involvement and work/volunteer experience.

 

Virginia Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy Scholarships (UDC)

Must be a lineal descendant of Confederate Veterans, present or former members of the Children of the Confederacy, members of the UDC, and children of UDC members (living or deceased).  See link for criteria outlined in the qualifications section.

Scholarship candidates are sponsored by local UDC Chapters.

 

Chesterfield Education Foundation Scholarships

Scholarships for Graduating Seniors are awarded annually to graduating students in Chesterfiled County. These scholarships are funded through endowments as well as annual contributions by businesses and individuals in the community. The foundation has more than $250,000 in endowed or designated scholarship funds.

 

John Randolph Foundation – American Legion Hopewell Memorial Post 146 Scholarship in Memory of Daniel W. Barbee, Jr.

Awarded for any course of study.  High School applicants must demonstrate academic achievement with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and plan to attend college as a full-time or part-time student.  Students currently attending a two or four year institution of higher education must be in good standing and have a GPA of 2.0 or higher to be considered.  Financial need, good citizenship and community involvement will be considered.  Priority may be given to those who are the child or grandchild of a member of the Hopewell American Legion Post 146.

 

M. W. Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia Free and Accepted Masons Scholarship Fund for High School Graduates (Masonic)

Scholarships will be awarded to high school graduates who are the children or grandchildren of a Prince Hall Mason in Virginia.  Awards are based on unusually high academic achievement and awarded on the basis of need and outstanding citizenship, leadership, service and participation in activities both in and out of school.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 637, Otis Berry Memorial Scholarship

Applicant must have a 3.0 or better G.P.A. in high school and a 2.0 for current college students.  Must have financial need, demonstrated volunteer service and three letters of recommendation as evidence of good citizenship.  Priority may be given to a child or grandchild of a member of the VFW, Post 637, or the VFW, Post 637 Auxiliary.

 

Virginia Mayflower Society Scholarship (Mildred Ramos Scholarship Fund)

ELIGIBILITY

  • Applicant must be a high school senior or home school equivalent, a college undergraduate student, or a university graduate student under the age of 26 (as of March 17, 2025) enrolled in an accredited educational institution.
  • Applicant must have a grade point average of at least B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or equivalent.
  • Applicant must be a Virginia resident, related to a Virginia resident, related to a member, or a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Applicant must be sponsored by a current teacher, school counselor, or a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Note: Members of the immediate families (i.e., children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sons-in-law, or daughters-in-law) of members of the Virginia Mayflower Society’s Board of Assistants or of its Scholarship Committee are not eligible for scholarship awards.

 

Henrico Federal Credit Union Continuing Studies Scholarship

Will be awarded to an area student of any age who is planning to continue their formal education.  Applicants must be a member of the Henrico FCU or the child of a Henrico FCU member.  Applicants may apply for this scholarship more than once but cannot win in consecutive years.

 

Henrico Federal Credit Union (Judy A. Davis Poore Memorial Scholarship)

Scholarship to honor long-time supervisory committee chair and member, Judy A. Davis-Poore.  Will be awarded to area high school senior planning to pursue a career in a business-related field.  Applicants must be a Henrico FCU member or the child of a Henrico FCU member.

 

Henrico Federal Credit Union (Fran Chaffin Memorial Scholarship)

Annual scholarship in memory of one of the credit union’s most-loved board members, Fran Chaffin.  Awarded to a high school senior who will begin college or technical school.  Applicants must be a member of Henrico FCU or the child of a  Henrico FCU member.

 

Call Federal Credit Union – Alice S. Pearce Scholarship

Your Call Federal Credit Union account must be in your name as the primary owner, not as a joint owner, at the time of your scholarship application submission. Additionally, the account must be active (not dormant) and in good standing. Each applicant will be judged based on scholarly merit, essay entry, community involvement and leadership. BayPort Credit Union – Directors Scholarship

Must be a full time undergraduate or graduate student who is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, trade or vocational school and a member of the credit union.  Seven one-time awards of $2,000 each are available.  The money will be paid directly to the college or university.  Applicants must write an essay on “Why I need the funds” and provide a copy of their current transcripts.

 

BayPort Credit Union – Beard/Bennett Memorial Scholarship

Available for BayPort Credit Union members.  Applicants must be high school seniors or home schooled students to qualify.  Essay winners will receive a $8,000 scholarship ($2,000 each year for four years to an accredited college or university, with the stipulation that each recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA each year to continue receiving the award.)  The money must be used within one year after graduation.  Each applicant must write an essay.

 

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative Community Scholarships

To apply for each scholarship, the applicant’s parent or guardian must be a consumer-owner of REC and the applicant must be planning to enroll in an accredited educational or training institution.

  • High School Scholarship – for current seniors in high school planning to attend a college or university.
  • College Scholarship – for students currently enrolled in a college or university.
  • Career & Technical School Scholarship – for students currently seniors in high school planning to attend a career and technical school or students currently enrolled in a career and technical school.

 

American Fire Sprinkler Association, Virginia Chapter

The Virginia Chapter of AFSA is pleased to offer this scholarship to a current High School senior planning to attend
college, career training or other approved educational institution in the fall. This scholarship opportunity is extended
to seniors related to a member of the fire sprinkler industry.

 

ElecTel Cooperative Federal Credit Union Scholarship

A total of two (2) scholarships are to be awarded to deserving ElecTel Cooperative Federal Credit Union members.  Scholarships will be evaluated on three equally weighted categories:  scholastic standing (GPA or demonstrated potential in his/her chosen field/major); essay; community involvement.

Eligible Students:
Each recipient must be an ElecTel Cooperative Federal Credit Union member, either planning to enroll or already enrolled as a full-time student at an eligible institution. Students must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average.  Students without recent high school transcripts and/or an eligible grade point average will be allowed to enclose a typewritten letter of qualification with three listed references.  All applicants must demonstrate educational potential.

 

Dominion Credit Union Scholarship Program

To be eligible for the scholarships, the applicant must be a member of Dominion Credit Union or an immediate family member or household member of a Dominion Credit Union member; a graduating high school senior with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale; a rising college freshman attending an accredited college or university during the upcoming academic year.

All employees, retirees and contractors of Dominion, as well as immediate family and household members of these groups are eligible for membership at Dominion Credit Union.

 

Virginia Library Association Scholarship

The Virginia Library Association will award scholarships for students pursuing a Master’s degree in Library Science at ALA- accredited schools.  The Clara Stanley Scholarship is awarded by the VLA Professional Associates Forum (VLAPAF); the CDR Alexander C. Varga Memorial Scholarship and the VLA Scholarship are provided by the Virginia Library Association.

The eligibility requirements for VLA Scholarships are:

  • Residence in the state of Virginia or currently employed in a Virginia Library.
  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Acceptance by, or currently enrolled in, an American Library Association accredited library school.  MUST be earning a Master of Library Science Degree. Membership in the Virginia Library Association. Click here to become a student member. Annual fee is $15.00
  • For the Clara Stanley VLAPAF Scholarship: current employment at a Virginia library is required.

 

Virginia Credit Union Scholarship Program

To be eligible, you’ll need to:

  • Be a current high school senior or current college student enrolled in your first undergraduate program in 2025.
  • Be a member of VACU
  • Have a 3.0 GPA or better
  • Submit a transcript from your current school
