Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity-Iota Sigma Chapter-Millard J. Watkins Jr. Memorial Scholarship

To apply for this application, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a male presently enrolled as a high school senior at a high school in Henrico
    County, Hanover County, or the City of Richmond.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA at the application deadline.
  • Should be a responsible, supportive, self-disciplined, positive, and energetic
    individual interested in the welfare and education of the community.

 

Debra Hill Graduate Shine Award

Richmond independent gospel-artist, Debra Hill, would like to honor a 2025 graduating senior from a public high school in the following districts in the state of Virginia: Richmond City, Petersburg City, Henrico County or Chesterfield County. This deserving student will need to demonstrate how they overcame adversity, achieved personal growth, and advanced in educational and/or career development including community outreach. Debra Hill is the founder of this private scholarship award.

 

Michael Wassmer Foundation Scholarship

The Michael Wassmer Foundation is a nonprofit that was founded in September of 2022, shortly after Mike passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition. Mike was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, friend and community leader.

He is dearly missed, but his family is proud to continue his philanthropic legacy in Virginia by granting significant need-based scholarships to high school seniors in the City of Richmond, and the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico. Wassmer Foundation Scholars will reflect Mike’s core values of resilience, integrity, compassion and determination.

 

The Pembroke Foundation Scholarship

STUDENTS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY

  • Will graduate from an accredited high school in Hanover, Henrico, Chesterfield, or Richmond City
  • Must possess at least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average
  • Be accepted to an accredited school in the state of VA (public or private)
  • Have successfully filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Virginia Alternative State Aid (VASA) application
  • Demonstrate unmet financial need
  • A personal statement is required

 

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. (Iota Sigma Chapter) – Dr. Jocelyn H. Whitehead Academic Scholarship

Application Eligibility

Each Applicant must:

  • A graduating minority female senior enrolled in a high school located in the Metro Richmond and surrounding areas (Chesterfield & Henrico).
  •  Possess a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale
  • Accepted to a full-time study at an accredited four-year college or university and provide proof of acceptance.

 

Henrico Education Foundation – David A. Kaechele Memorial Scholarship

The David A Kaechele Memorial Scholarship Fund is presented by the Henrico Education Foundation in memory of Henrico Supervisor David A Kaechele. The funds may be used for tuition, books or other school related costs and will be paid directly to the educational institution. Applicants must be enrolled in Henrico County Public Schools and have attended Kaechele Elementary School for at least one year, and possess a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Greenwood Elementary School PTA – Debra Smith Scholarship

Dr. Debra Smith was the first principal at Greenwood Elementary School that had a strong connection with her students and community. During her 12 years at Greenwood, Dr. Smith set the foundation for our 5 core values:

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. (Iota Sigma Chapter) Dr. Elizabeth J. Johnson Scholarship

This scholarship is available for a female high school senior who intends to further her education at a four-year college.  The applicant should have a 2.5 GPA or higher and submit two letters of recommendation.  An essay is required. Contact high school counselor for further information.

 

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Sigma Delta Zeta Chapter – Darlene Lavern Hamilton Memorial Scholarship

The Darlene Hamilton Memorial Scholarship award will be made to a deserving female high school senior to cover educational costs.  The award is targeted to:

  • female high school senior

  • attends a Henrico County High School with an expected graduation date of Spring 2023

  • exhibits personal integrity and excellence through academic achievement and community involvement, and

  • demonstrates a moderate to significant need for financial assistance in attaining her educational goals.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Jack Ferguson Endowment by Henrico 4H/Henrico Extension

To be eligible one must have a minimum of three years membership in the Henrico 4H program.

 

HCPS Teacher Scholars’ Program

Specifically for students interested in teaching and pursuing a career with Henrico County Public Schools after graduating college. HCPS wants to fill positions in areas where there is a critical shortage, including Spanish, Math, Exceptional Education, Science, Technology and Family & Consumer Sciences.  Contact high school counselor for additional details.

 

Short Pump Middle School PTA – Dr. Mark E. Chamberlin Scholarship

Applicant must be a graduate of Short Pump Middle School and have a minimum 2.5 GPA to be considered.  Based on school involvement, community service and strong personal character.

 

Short Pump Ruritan Club Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievement, leadership, community service, and financial need.  If you live in the service area of these schools, you may apply (even if you attend a private school or are home schooled):

Twin Hickory Elementary School – The McNeice/Vaughan Trailblazers In Education Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, one must have attended Twin Hickory Elementary School for at least one full school year and have an interest in majoring in education.  A teacher recommendation is required. GPA, extracurricular activities and community involvement may be considered.  Contact high school guidance counselor for more information.

 

Henrico Education Foundation – Carol L. Kenzer Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who has attended and completed the IB program at Moody Middle School and is planning to attend a 4-year college or university.  Essays are required.  Contact high school counselor for more information.   

 

Quioccasin (formerly Byrd Middle School) – Lonnie E. Gailes Scholarship Program

Must have attended Harry F. Byrd Middle School, now Quioccasin for at least 2 years to be eligible.  The scholarship award is based on high moral character, leadership skills, and active school/community involvement.  Contact high school guidance counselor for additional information.

 

Pemberton Elementary School – A.P. Hall Scholarship

Eligibility: The scholarship is open to former Pemberton Elementary School
students who will graduate from a Henrico County Public School or Maggie L.
Walker Governor’s School.
Requirements:
● Completed Pemberton A.P. Hall Scholarship Application, including
resume, copy of transcript, essay and letter of recommendation.
● Minimum GPA: 3.0
● Minimum SAT score: 900

 

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority – Henrico County Alumnae Chapter

Applicant must reside or attend school in service area.  Transcript, essay, personal statement and letters of recommendation are required.  Must enroll in an accredited 2 or 4 yr. college/university in the fall.

Henry D. Ward Elementary School Scholarship

Must have previously attended Henry D. Ward Elementary and are now graduating from a Henrico County public high school.  Selection will be based on high school transcript, written reponse, and financial need.  Contact high school guidance counselor for more details.

 

Henrico Education Foundation – Ann M. Martin Learning for Life Scholarship

Created for graduates planning to pursue study or training beyond high school with evidence of a commitment to the promotion of libraries and literacy.  Minimum GPA of 2.5 and enrolled in HCPS for at least 3 years. Contact high school counselor for more details.

 

 

Henrico Education Foundation – T. J. Berry Memorial Scholarship

The Thomas Peyton Berry, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of TJ Berry and his service to the community and the Henrico County Police Department. The scholarship was created to encourage and enable motivated Henrico County Public Schools seniors to pursue opportunities in public service such as law enforcement, nursing, forensic science, fire science, ROTC, and emergency service professions. Applicants must be graduating seniors planning to attend a two-year community or four-year college/university, trade, vocational or technical school and possess a minimum G.P.A. of 2.75.

 

Community Foundation – Virginia Randolph Scholarship

The purpose of the Fund is to honor Virginia Estelle Randolph’s 57-year teaching career in Henrico County by supporting the provision of scholarships or tuition assistance for qualifying high school graduates from Henrico County.  Scholarship awards are based primarily on financial need, academic achievement and a commitment to community service.

An eligible student must be:

  • a graduating high school senior from a public high school in Henrico County
  • demonstrate financial need, a commitment to academic achievement, and a commitment to serving his or her community
  • a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited 2- or 4-year community college, college or university, vocational or technical institution the following academic year

 

Continental Societies, Mid-Atlantic Region Scholarship

Open to high school seniors who will be attending an accredited 4-year  college or university.  Must submit a 500-word essay explaining your short-term and long-term goals, your plans for educational support, personal achievements and why you think you should receive the scholarship.

 

Henrico County Council of PTAs – George H. Moody Scholarship

The Scholarship is in honor of Dr. George H. Moody. The HCCPTA believes in higher education and is committed to providing extra financial assistance that will make it possible for a young person to continue his or her education upon graduation from high school. This could mean going to college, entering trade school, nursing training or other post high school training.

The criteria reviewed includes financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular and community service, the student’s essay and recommendations.  One hundred percent of the funds utilized to award these scholarships come from the Henrico County Community. Donations are made from Henrico County PTA local units.  School guidance counselors may have earlier deadlines in order to choose applicants from their particular school.

 

Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association – Joel Booth Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is available to a senior who has been member of Glen Allen Youth Athletic Association for a minimum of 3 years and who plans to enroll full-time at an accredited community, junior, or 4-yr. college/university in the fall.

 

Pinchbeck Elementary – Marybeth Graff Scholarship

Open to graduating seniors from a Henrico County Public High School pursuing a career as a teacher in special education or a career supporting children with special needs.  3.0 GPA required.  Contact high school guidance counselor for further information.

 

Community Foundation – Virginia Urology Center Scholarship

Open to seniors graduating from public or private accredited high schools accepted or enrolled in a 2- or 4-year institution of higher learning to study in the fields of medicine and/or science.  Applicants must demonstrate outstanding academic work, financial need, and strong participation in school activities and community service.

 

Community Foundation – The Woman’s Club Education Endowment

Open to graduating seniors of a metro-Richmond public/private high school and adult-learners in the metro-Richmond area who are pursuing post-secondary education at an accredited 2- or 4-year college or university, or technical school in the continental U.S.  Applicants must demonstrate strong academic work, financial need, and a commitment to serving his or her community. High school seniors’ academic performance will be based on grades and SAT. Adults will be evaluated on academic achievements and professional accomplishments.

 

Community Foundation – Mary Lou Lukhard Nursing Scholarship

Open to graduating seniors attending public or private high schools in Richmond City, Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, Powhatan, Goochland, New Kent and Charles City who is planning to pursue a career in nursing; or an adult in the metro-Richmond area who is training to become a nurse. Applicants must demonstrate strong academic work, financial need, and a commitment to serving his or her community.
