GFWC Worthington Woman’s Club-Sally T. Cary Scholarship

Open to Chesterfield County high school seniors.  Applicant should be involved in community service and two letters of recommendation and an essay are required.  See high school counselor for more details. 

Henry D. Ward Elementary School Scholarship

Must have previously attended Henry D. Ward Elementary and are now graduating from a Henrico County public high school.  Selection will be based on high school transcript, written reponse, and financial need.  Contact high school guidance counselor for more details.

Weapons of Praise Scholarship

Applicants must be a Virginia resident for at least one year.  Graduating high school seniors must have at least a 2.0 GPA and supply two letters of recommendation (an academic recommendation from a teacher and a character recommendation from your pastor, employer, or overseer of volunteer work.)

The Society of the Cincinnati (in the State of Virginia) Scholarship

Essay contest for any Virginia high school senior who plans to attend a college or university in the State of Virginia in the fall. Each year the essay is about a historical document that played an important role in the establishment of our nation.  Entries should be limited to 1,500 words and be an original essay following the award criteria and written for this competition.  Two copies of each entry must be mailed with a competed application form.  Contact high school counselor for more information.

Virginia Council on Women – STEAM-H Essay Contest

The Virginia Council on Women (Council) will provide one merit-based and one need-based scholarship
to female high school seniors in each of the five geographic regions across the Commonwealth through a Science,
Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics, and Healthcare (STEAM-H) essay contest.

Henrico Education Foundation – Ann M. Martin Learning for Life Scholarship

Created for graduates planning to pursue study or training beyond high school with evidence of a commitment to the promotion of libraries and literacy.  Minimum GPA of 2.5 and enrolled in HCPS for at least 3 years. Contact high school counselor for more details.

Henrico Education Foundation – T. J. Berry Memorial Scholarship

The Thomas Peyton Berry, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of TJ Berry and his service to the community and the Henrico County Police Department. The scholarship was created to encourage and enable motivated Henrico County Public Schools seniors to pursue opportunities in public service such as law enforcement, nursing, forensic science, fire science, ROTC, and emergency service professions. Applicants must be graduating seniors planning to attend a two-year community or four-year college/university, trade, vocational or technical school and possess a minimum G.P.A. of 2.75.

GRASP Last Dollar Scholarships

STUDENTS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY

• Met with the high school GRASP advisor during his or her senior year

• Possess at least a 2.0 cumulative grade point average

• Will graduate from high school spring of 2025

• Demonstrate unmet financial need (A college financial aid award letter will be requested before the scholarship is granted.)

• Will attend a post-secondary school in Virginia (public or private)

• Have successfully filed a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the Virginia Alternative State Aid (VASA) application.

Virginia Soil & Water Conservation Districts – (VASWCD) Educational Foundation Scholarship

Four scholarships to be awarded statewide to full-time students who have applied to a college freshman level curriculum who demonstrate an active interest in conservation.  Applicants shall document a class ranking in top 20% of his/her graduating class or a 3.0 or greater GPA.

Virginia ESL Supervisors’ Association (VESA) Scholarship

The following criteria will be used for scholarship consideration:

● Enrolled in an ESL program for at least one year in grades 6-12 in a Virginia public school
● Enrolled in 12th grade at the time of application
● Financial need
● The strength of the student produced essay.

Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association Tom Jones Scholarship

This scholarship is open to a deserving student who has been admitted into and is in
the process of entering their first year of a CAATE-accredited athletic training professional program within the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Children’s Museum of Richmond – Snow Ambassador Scholarship

Do you know a High School Junior that demonstrates creativity and acts as a role model for all children, regardless of their age, ability, or background? The Children’s Museum of Richmond is currently accepting applications for its 2024 Snow Ambassador Scholarship. To be eligible, Snow Ambassador applicants must be current High School Juniors during the 2024-2025 school year, demonstrate a balance between extracurricular activities, academics, and community service, and be able to serve as the Snow Ambassador between January 2025-January 2026, as scheduled by the Children’s Museum.

National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC)-Richmond Chapter

Available to male or female seniors who plan to pursue a career in a construction related field; must plan to attend a 2 or 4 yr. accredited school; must demonstrate financial need.  Only one application per school will be considered.  Contact high school counselor for counselor’s deadline date.

Prince George Master Gardener Association Scholarship

The Prince George Master Gardener Association is pleased to offer at least one (1) scholarship to enable students to study in a plant science related field, including but not limited to horticulture, botany, agronomy, forestry, landscape architecture/design, and turf management. These scholarships can be awarded to high school seniors or to students entering a college/university for the first time as a full time student.

Community Foundation – Virginia Randolph Scholarship

The purpose of the Fund is to honor Virginia Estelle Randolph’s 57-year teaching career in Henrico County by supporting the provision of scholarships or tuition assistance for qualifying high school graduates from Henrico County.  Scholarship awards are based primarily on financial need, academic achievement and a commitment to community service.

An eligible student must be:

• a graduating high school senior from a public high school in Henrico County
• demonstrate financial need, a commitment to academic achievement, and a commitment to serving his or her community
• a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited 2- or 4-year community college, college or university, vocational or technical institution the following academic year

Community Foundation – R.C. and Betsy Williamson Scholarship

The purpose of the scholarship fund is to support post-secondary educational scholarships for qualifying graduates of public high schools in the Central Virginia area.  Scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate Christian values, academic achievement, commitment to their community and financial need.

An eligible student must be:

• a graduating high school senior attending a state-accredited public high school in the Central Virginia Area
• demonstrate a commitment to academics and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
• demonstrate strong participation in school and community activities, financial need and active in their Christian community
• be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited two or four-year college, community college, university or trade school in the continental United States the following academic year

Community Foundation – Mark Smith Neale II Cross of Life Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship fund was established in 1997 by his family and friends, to honor a young man who strived to balance his “cross of life”—work, play, worship and love.

The purpose of the scholarship fund is to support post-secondary educational scholarships for qualifying graduates of West Point High School, West Point, Virginia. The recipient of the scholarship will be the student who has displayed leadership, discipline, a love of the arts, team spirit and a strong commitment to worship.

An eligible student must:

• be a senior attending West Point High School

• demonstrate outstanding commitment to academics, athletics, and a balance of the “cross of life”

• be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited four-year college or university in the continental United States the following academic year

Community Foundation – Maria Laqeuer & Jerry Hamm Scholarship

The Maria Laqueur Scholarship Fund was established in 2008 to support post-secondary educational opportunities for qualifying graduates of Lancaster High School in Lancaster County, Virginia.

An eligible student must be:

• a senior attending Lancaster High School in Lancaster County, Virginia

• demonstrate academic achievement, financial need, and a commitment to community service

• be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited 2- or 4-year community college, college or university in the United States the following academic year

Community Foundation – Donald W. Colbert Scholarship

The purpose of the fund is to award educational scholarships to graduating high school seniors from Richmond City Public Schools who plan to attend a four-year college or university, community college or vocational school. Preference will be given to students who have an interest in pursuing a career in retail, or whose parents are currently employed in the retail industry.

Eligible students must:

• be a high school graduate of a public high school in Richmond City

• demonstrate scholastic commitment, academic promise, commitment to serving his or her community, and financial need

• be a candidate for high school graduation at the end of the current academic year, and plan to enroll in an accredited four-year college or university, community college or vocational school the following academic year

Mildred A. Mason Memorial Scholarship

Students applying for this scholarship must meet the following criteria: an individual who is planning to enter a non-degree technical program to become a health care worker and has been admitted into an approved program in Virginia; or, a health care worker desiring further education in their field, who has completed a technical health and medical services program, and has been admitted into an approved program in Virginia; or, a professional health care worker pursuing a planned program of instruction for the purpose of teaching in a program in Virginia; or, a technical health and medical services educator of Virginia who has been accepted into a planned program of study leading to a higher degree in their profession. NEWH-Washington D.C./Virginia Chapter Scholarship

NEWH Washington DC Metropolitan Chapter is awarding scholarships to students pursuing a major and career objective
within the Hospitality Industry (interior design, hospitality management, culinary, etc.). NEWH chapters and regional
groups across the U.S., Canada, and the UK award scholarships annually based on the below criteria:
• Actively enrolled student: 2-year program freshman and above, 4-year sophomore/second year and above, or
graduate level attending college in Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington DC
• 3.0 GPA (cumulative), overall “B” average, or grade percentage of 83% – 86% equivalent or above
• Financial need through college for past, current, or upcoming tuition or program approved books/supplies
• Major and career objective within a hospitality related field (interior design, hospitality management, culinary, etc.)

Stuart H. Slusher Memorial Scholarship

Eligibility:
The student must be resident of the Com-
monwealth of Virginia and the County of Henrico.

The student must be a graduating senior of
Douglas S. Freeman High School in the
County of Henrico, Virginia. The Board,
in its discretion, may award a scholarship to
a student for one or more years, not to
exceed four years.

The student may be a prior recipient of a
Stuart H. Slusher Memorial Scholarship
award.

The student must be accepted to an accred-
ited college, university, vocational, trade, or other school.

The student must have maintained at least
a “C” average through high school.

Shady Grove Elementary PTA – Thomas B. Fernald Scholarship

Are you a high school senior who attended Shady Grove Elementary School? Have you been an active volunteer? You may be eligible to apply for the Thomas B. Fernald Scholarship. Additional criteria include a record of community service, a well-rounded individual, an overall good student and a person of good character.   

Tuckahoe Woman’s Club Scholarship

This scholarship is for graduating seniors with at least a 3.5 GPA, who standout in extracurricular activities and community service. Financial need must also be shown. Contact your Guidance office for information and application.

Virginia High School League (VHSL) – Vito Perriello Citizenship Award

Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded during the school year, honoring one male and one female student-participant who demonstrates outstanding traits of citizenship in his/her high school career.  Only students graduating from a VHSL member school will be eligible for these awards. Each VHSL member school may nominate one male and one female student (a separate application is required for each individual).

Students must have previously participated in one or more VHSL activities which can include serving as an athletic training student aide (ATSA) with a Virginia licensed athletic trainer within that school to be eligible for the award.  All applications must be submitted to the VHSL office by the member school principal.

Virginia High School League (VHSL) Achievement Award

Open to graduating seniors attending a member VHSL public high school who have previously won at least one varsity letter in a VHSL sport/academic activity, and who are involved both in school-sponsored activities and community-related activities.  Each VHSL member school is encouraged to nominate four candidates, one for each category – female athlete, male athlete, academic activities participant and courageous achievement.
