This is a book scholarship for a high school senior in the Richmond area who intends to pursue an education degree. 2.5 or above GPA is required along with community service activities.

 

The Askew Scholarship Program

The Askew Scholarship Program is provided through the generosity of the
Askew/Harrington families and awarded by Corinth United Methodist Church
Scholarship Committee. Scholarships are awarded annually to individuals who grew up
in or presently reside on the east side of Richmond (i.e.. Eastern Henrico, New Kent,
Varina, Sandston, etc.) who are in degree programs or post degree programs that
address the root causes of violence and create change. This would include, but not be
limited to: the fields of criminal justice, international relations, education, psychology,
interreligious studies, ethics, peace studies, conflict resolution, social work and ministry.

 

Virginia Zeta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship

Every two years Virginia Zeta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa awards a scholarship to a graduating high school senior. The recipient should be in good academic standing at their high school with the future goal of becoming an educator or working in the field of education.

John Randolph Foundation – Paulette and George Friday Scholarship

To promote continuing education for any course of study by awarding scholarships for attendance at institutions of higher education to individuals who demonstrate financial need, academic achievement and desire. Priority may be given to a student pursuing a career in Healthcare, Mechanical Engineering or Education.

Applicants must:

  1. Express an interest in attending college as a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student (at least 6 hours per semester); Priority may be given to students pursuing a career in Healthcare, Mechanical Engineering or Education
  2. Submit a completed “John Randolph Foundation Scholarship Application” ONLINE which includes the ability to UPLOAD the required “attachments” requested on the application;
  3. Demonstrate Community Service, Extra -Curricular Activities, Financial need; and

Virginia Federation of Republican Women Kendall Rhodes Memorial Scholarship

The VFRW is offering this scholarship to a graduating female high school senior who will be majoring in education.  The recipient must plan to attend an accredited college or university in the State of Virginia

 

HCPS Teacher Scholars’ Program

Specifically for students interested in teaching and pursuing a career with Henrico County Public Schools after graduating college. Virginia Association for Teachers of Family & Consumer Sciences – Martha Creighton Scholarship

The applicant must be a graduate of a Virginia high school who is planning to pursue or is pursuing an education in Family and Consumer Sciences or a Family and Consumer Sciences related field.

 

 

Virginia Association for Teachers of Family & Consumer Sciences – Helen Hopper Scholarship

Available for a high school senior, college student or graduate student majoring in Family Life Education.

 

 

John Randolph Foundation – Mary H. and Paul L. Quarrels Memorial Scholarship

Applicant should plan to pursue a career in education as a full-time or part-time undergraduate and demonstrate scholastic achievement with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.  Active participation in the community and extracurricular activities are required.  Financial need verification is also required.

 

Twin Hickory Elementary School – The McNeice/Vaughan Trailblazers In Education Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, one must have attended Twin Hickory Elementary School for at least one full school year and have an interest in majoring in education.  A teacher recommendation is required. The Delta Chapter of Virginia Alpha Delta Kappa is offering a scholarship to a
graduating senior in Chesterfield County Public Schools who plans to pursue a career in

John Randolph Foundation – James River Ball Patrons Committee Scholarship in Memory of Audrey Eliades

Available to seniors of Hopewell High School or seniors attending Appomattox Regional Governors School for the Arts that are Hopewell residents.  Those interested should wish to pursue a career as an art educator, demonstrate scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities and active participation in the community, as well as financial need.

 

Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics Scholarship (Edward A. Anderson Scholarship Program)

For Virginia residents who are full-time students at a Virginia college or university and enrolled in a degree-seeking program with a concentration or a major in mathematics and plan to teach mathematics in a Virginia school.

 

Pinchbeck Elementary – Marybeth Graff Scholarship

Open to graduating seniors from a Henrico County Public High School pursuing a career as a teacher in special education or a career supporting children with special needs.  3.0 GPA required.  Contact high school guidance counselor for further information.

 

Virginia Library Association Scholarship

The Virginia Library Association will award scholarships for students pursuing a Master’s degree in Library Science at ALA- accredited schools.  The Clara Stanley Scholarship is awarded by the VLA Professional Associates Forum (VLAPAF); the CDR Alexander C. Varga Memorial Scholarship and the VLA Scholarship are provided by the Virginia Library Association.

The eligibility requirements for VLA Scholarships are:

  • Residence in the state of Virginia or currently employed in a Virginia Library.
  • Undergraduate degree.
  • Acceptance by, or currently enrolled in, an American Library Association accredited library school.  MUST be earning a Master of Library Science Degree. Membership in the Virginia Library Association. Click here to become a student member. Annual fee is $15.00

Henrico Retired School Personnel Association Scholarship

Roothbert Fund Scholarships

Roothbert Fund scholarships are open those in the designated region regardless of sex, age, color, nationality or religious background. While the Fund does not emphasize any particular form of religious practice or worship, it seeks to provide support to persons motivated by spiritual values. The Fund has awarded grants to persons entering a wide range of careers. However, preference will be given to those who can satisfy high scholastic requirements and are considering careers in education. Must have a GPA of 2.5 or better.

Open to New Kent County graduating seniors pursuing a degree in agriculture, forestry, or education. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Open to graduating seniors from New Kent High School accepted into accredited college/university majoring in agriculture, science, or education. Must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher and demonstrate school and community involvement.
