GRASP Community College Scholarships

Eligible scholarship recipients will enroll at a Virginia Community College to either complete a career certificate or with the intent to transfer to a Virginia four-year public or private institution through a Virginia Guaranteed Admission Agreement.  See link for further requirements.

 

State Fair of Virginia Applied Scholarships

APPLIED SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

Applications Open February 2nd *NEW UPDATE*

As of the 2025 State Fair of Virginia, the Youth Applied Scholarship Program will now open first week of February.

Timeline for the 2025 Applied Youth Scholarship Program:

  • Monday, February 2nd: Applications Open
  • Sunday, March 1st (Midnight): Applications Close
  • Mid-April: Interviews for top applicants in Senior Livestock and General
  • May 15: Recipients Notified

All other applicants will be sent the press release of winners after the recipients are notified.

 

  

 

Community Foundation – John H. Wright Scholarship

The John H. Wright Scholarship Fund was established in 2018 to honor the memory of John H. Wright and Mr. Wright’s passion for farming and his land and his desire to help those who have encountered difficulties in life. The intent of this scholarship is to support students of varying academic levels who show promise of success in their chosen course of study.

An eligible student must be planning a course of study relating in some manner to agriculture, farming, or stewardship of the land.

 

Community Foundation – Matthew Anthony Grappone Memorial Scholarship

The Matthew Anthony Grappone Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1997 by his family, to honor a young man who was a student at Atlee High School. The purpose of the scholarship fund is to support post-secondary educational scholarships for qualifying graduates of Atlee High School, Hanover High School and Mechanicsville High School.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Disputanta Volunteer Fire Department David Zuskin Memorial Scholarship

Any Course of Study
Residents of: Carson, Disputanta, Prince George, Southampton District

Maintains a 2 GPA or higher

Preference will be given to individuals interested in pursuing a course of study in the medical field or receiving appropriate training as a full-time or part-time firefighter or emergency services provider. Priority will be given to a student who volunteers with the Disputanta Volunteer Fire Department, or who is a dependent of a current or former volunteer of the Disputanta Volunteer Fire Department.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Friendship Baptist Church Scholarship

To promote continuing education by awarding scholarships for any course of study at institutions of higher learning. These institutions may include technical colleges, community colleges, and four-year colleges/universities. Priority will be given to a member of Friendship Baptist Church and/or the child/grandchild of a member of Friendship Baptist Church.  Applicant must have a 2.0 GPA or higher and demonstrate financial need.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Fred C. and Bertha C. Morene Scholarship

To promote continuing education for any course of study by awarding scholarships for attendance at institutions of higher education to individuals who demonstrate financial need, community involvement, academic achievement and desire.  Applicant should attend Hopewell High School.

 

 

John Randolph Foundation – Bo Partin, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Course of Study: Business, Economics, Education, Engineering
Residents of: Chester, Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Prince George

Maintains a 3 GPA or higher

 

Virginia Space Grant Consortium – Graduate STEM Student Fellowships

Applicants must be graduate students enrolled full-time in a program of study in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) and have a specific faculty-mentored research project that has NASA or aerospace relevance. Applied Health Sciences majors are not eligible for this program.

 

Virginia Space Grant Consortium – STEM Bridge Scholarship Program

Students from any federally recognized minority group in STEM and enrolled full-time in a program of STEM at one of the five Virginia Space Grant member universities are strongly encouraged to apply.  Applied Health Science majors are not eligible for this program.

 

 

U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service – Junior Duck Stamp Art and Conservation Design Contest

All students in kindergarten through grade twelve are encouraged to participate in the Junior Duck Stamp Conservation and Design Program annual art and conservation message contest as part of the Junior Duck Stamp Program.

 

Virginia Association of Housing and Community Development Officials (VAHCDO) Scholarship

The VAHCDO Scholarship recognizes and rewards high school seniors who have demonstrated a passion for academic success throughout their high school term. The Luncheon is always an inspiring and emotional event, where scholarship recipients share their personal experiences growing up in subsidized housing and explain what motivated them to stay focused on their academic and professional aspirations.

 

Korean American Scholarship Foundation – Eastern Regional Chapter Korean War Veteran Descendant Scholarship

Requirements

* Direct American descendant of an American Korean War Veteran who served in Korea from June 25, 1950 – January 31, 1955 (Korean War Era, as designated by the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs) in the United States Armed Forces: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or those who qualify as a Regular Member of the US Korean War Veterans Association, Inc.

* Full-time undergraduate or graduate student.

*Attend a school located in the KASF Eastern Region

*Have a 3.0 or higher GPA

*Have financial need

 

Korean American Scholarship Foundation – Eastern Regional Chapter College/Graduate Scholarship

Must be a full-undergraduate or graduate student with a minimum 3.0 GPA.

KASF scholarships are offered to the qualified Korean American students (including foreign students from Korea). All applicants must be enrolled in a full time program in the U.S during the scholarship application year.

If extra funds are available, other students (non Koreans) may qualify for scholarships.

Students must have financial need.

 

 

Korean American Scholarship Foundation – Eastern Regional Chapter High School Scholarship

Available for students with a Korean heritage studying in the United States regardless of citizenship status (including Korean Nationals). If extra funds are available, other students (non-Korean) may qualify for some scholarships.

Must be a full time student at a school in one of the designated Eastern region states and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Available for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors – Scholarships awarded based on achievement (not based on financial need).

 

Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads – Kelly G. Southard Memorial Scholarship

To be eligible for the scholarship:

1) You or your parent must have been a member of the VAVRS, AVAVRS, or VAJVRS for at least 2 years

2) You must be accepted at a fully accredited college or university or waiting acceptance at an institution in the field of Architecture or the Medical field which is the criteria for this scholarship

3) You must be less than 65 years old during the calendar year in which you are receiving the award

4) You cannot have received this award before

American Public Power Association DEED Funding for Students

DEED offers four types of funding for students — educational scholarships, student internships, student research grants, and technical design projects.

See link for information on the requirements for the four types of funding available.

Applicants must be full-time students attending or planning to attend a vocational institution, lineworker school or two to four-year college/university within the U.S. and must not be graduating within 12 months of the application deadline. Those interested in a career as a public power lineworker should indicate interest in the educational scholarship. Official transcripts must be submitted by the application deadline.

 

Virginia Head Start Alumni Scholarship

The Virginia Head Start Alumni High School Senior Scholarship is open to high school seniors who were former Virginia Head Start students. He or she must plan to pursue post-secondary education at an accredited two or four-year college or technical school.

 

Mid-Atlantic Certified Crop Advisors Scholarship

The Mid-Atlantic Certified Crop Advisers Scholarship Committee will select the scholarship recipients.  The selection will be based on the student’s agricultural background, relevant field involvement, financial need, grade point average, agronomic related studies, career goals, and extra curricular activities.

 

The Casualty Actuaries of the Southeast (CASE) Scholarship Program

The Casualty Actuaries of the Southeast (CASE) is offering scholarships to college students in southeastern states for the upcoming academic year. The scholarship program’s mission is to encourage students who reside in a southeastern state to become future working members of the Casualty Actuarial Society.  States included are:  Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, or Virginia.  Incoming freshmen/first year students are not eligible.

 

Southeastern Theatre Conference, Inc. (SETC) Graduate Studies Scholarships

Five scholarships are being offered by the SETC for graduate students studying the various disciplines of theatre including directing, acting, theatre, musical theatre and costume design and technology.   Applicants must attend, have attended, or plan to attend a school in the SETC region which includes: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia or West Virginia.
