Each applicant must be a member of Virginia Educators Credit Union who has not previously been awarded a scholarship from VECU.

Be a graduating high school senior.

Have a cumulative GPA of  3.0 or higher.

Submit an essay and sealed copy of your most recent high school transcript.

 

American Water Works Association – VA AWWA – Ray A. Jackson Undergraduate Scholarship

Available to a full time undergraduate student member of AWWA attending school in Virginia currently with a career goal of serving in the water industry.  Requirements include:  a resume highlighting your academic and extracurricular performance and activities, an unofficial or official transcript or official semester schedule of school currently attending, and a completed application.  An essay is required.

 

Call Federal Credit Union – Alice S. Pearce Scholarship

Must be a Call Federal Credit Union member and primary account holder by March 31, 2024.  Each applicant will be judged based on scholarly merit, essay entry, community involvement and leadership. See link for further details.

 

Henrico Education Foundation – Ann M. Martin Learning for Life Scholarship

Created for graduates planning to pursue study or training beyond high school with evidence of a commitment to the promotion of libraries and literacy.  Minimum GPA of 2.5 and enrolled in HCPS for at least 3 years. Contact high school counselor for more details.

 

 

Hatcher Cole Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #38 Scholarship

Applicant must be a resident of Hanover County and a graduating high school senior (public,
private or home school) who will be furthering their education, beginning in the fall of the same
year as the application process, of any postsecondary learning institution; i.e. two-year college,
four-year college, trade or technical school

 

Henrico Federal Credit Union (Fran Chaffin Memorial Scholarship)

Annual scholarship in memory of one of the credit union’s most-loved board members, Fran Chaffin.  Awarded to a high school senior who will begin college or technical school.  Applicants must be a member of Henrico FCU or the child of a  Henrico FCU member.

 

Henrico Federal Credit Union Continuing Studies Scholarship

Will be awarded to an area student of any age who is planning to continue their formal education.  Applicants must be a member of the Henrico FCU or the child of a Henrico FCU member.  Applicants may apply for this scholarship more than once but cannot win in consecutive years.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Nancy J. Seavy Memorial Scholarship

For students pursuing a career in education or the arts or a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Government, Jounalism or Marketing.  Must have a G.P.A. of 3.0 or better with extracurricular activities and active participation in the community.  Must have financial need.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Chester Rotary, Charles H. Kinsey, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

Open to those attending or have an express interest in attending an institution of higher education as a full time or part time undergraduate student (at least 6 hours per semester); be a well-rounded indivdual with extracurricular activities and a G.P.A. of 2.5 or above.  Must demonstrate active participation in the community and provide verification of financial need.  Must demonstrate active participation in an Interact Club and meet the remaining criteria as outlined in the application guidelines.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Coach Kevin Ferguson Scholarship

May be awarded for any course of study, however priority may be given to a student who is pursuing a career in Physical Education or has played on the Prince George High School baseball team, or will continue their baseball playing career at the college level.  Applicants must demonstrate academic achievement, extra-curricular involvement, good citizenship, financial need and volunteer service.  Institutions may include technical colleges, community colleges, and four-year colleges/universities.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Connie Williamson Memorial Scholarship

Applicant should be a senior attending Hopewell High School who plans to attend a four-year college either full or part time.  Must hold or have held a part time job during high school and demonstrate scholastic achievement, participation in the community and have financial need and a G. P. A. of 3.0 or above.

 

John Randolph Foundation – James River Ball Patrons Committee Scholarship in Memory of Audrey Eliades

Available to seniors of Hopewell High School or seniors attending Appomattox Regional Governors School for the Arts that are Hopewell residents.  Those interested should wish to pursue a career as an art educator, demonstrate scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities and active participation in the community, as well as financial need.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Jane Bryant Scholarship for the Dramatic Arts

Applicant must attend the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School for the Arts and Technology and have a G.P. A. of 3.0 or above.  Must plan on attending a four year college on a full time basis and plan to further their education in the field of dramatic arts.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Juanita and Wilson Chambers Scholarship

Applicant should attend Hopewell High School and demonstrate academic achievement with a 3.0 G.P.A. or higher, have extracurricular involvement and financial need.  May plan to attend a technical college, community college, or four year college on a full or part time basis.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Matt Saye Memorial Scholarship

Applicant should plan to pursue a career in criminal justice, legal/law enforcement, physical therapy or speech pathology or has been a member of the Prince George High School baseball team, or will continue their baseball career at an institution which may include technical, community or a four year college OR is a dependent of a full time or part time police or corrections officer.  Students who are currently participating in such a program may also apply.   Applicants must demonstrate extra-curricular involvement, good citizenship, financial need and volunteer service to the community.

 

Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) – MJW Scholarship

  • Must be enrolled in the fall 2024 semester as a junior or senior undergraduate accounting major.
  • Must demonstrate a minimum overall and accounting GPA of 3.0.

 

Virginia High School League Achievement Award

Open to graduating seniors attending a member VHSL public high school who have previously won at least one varsity letter in a VHSL sport/academic activity, and who are involved both in school-sponsored activities and community-related activities.  Each VHSL member school is encouraged to nominate four candidates, one for each category – female athlete, male athlete, academic activities participant and courageous achievement.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Ted Blanks Scholarship

Open to Hopewell High School and Prince George High School seniors pursuing college education in any course of study who demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular activities and desire.  Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

 

Virginia Federation of Republican Women Political Studies Scholarship

This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students studying subjects directly related to Political Science such as Political Science, Government, Law, Political Communications/Journalism, Public Policy/Administration, International Relations, or Economics. The recipient of this scholarship will be a young woman who is currently enrolled in an accredited college in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

 

 

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Larry Gay Memorial Endowment

Applicant should be a member or dependent of a member of the Virginia Grain Producers Association or an employee or dependent of an employee of at least one year of a producer member of this association.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Roger Gregory, Jr. and Emma E. Gregory Memorial Endowment by St. Peters Parish Church

Open to residents of Charles City, New Kent or King William Counties pursuing a college education to study agriculture, forestry or environmental science. Preference given to previous recipient of this award.

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – Dr. C. E. Myers and Olive S. Myers Memorial Endowment

Must be a resident of Hanover County.

 

Times-Dispatch / Sports Backers Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Award

Open to high school student athletes, one male and one female per month, who are: nominated by their school’s trainer or coach; exhibit good character; demonstrate academic achievement; and maintain a 3.0 GPA.  See high school coach or trainer for more information.

 

 

Virginia Space Grant Consortium – Community College STEM Scholarship

Open to students enrolled full time (min. 12 credit hours) at one of Virginia’s community colleges majoring in a science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) field and interested in pursuing a career that supports NASA’s mission. Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Friends of Lower Appomattox River (FOLAR) Environmental Stewardship Scholarship

Priority may be given to a student with an interest in pursuing an environmental-related career and extracurricular participation in an environmental service program is highly recommended.  The applicant should have a 3.0 GPA or better.  The award is based on academic record, plan of study, career goals, recommendations and extra-curricular activities with no consideration of financial need, sex, race, national origin, or physical ability.

 

John Randolph Foundation – Anne Moncrief Layman Nursing Scholarship

Applicant should be currently attending or have an interest in attending college as an undergraduate or graduate student to become a registered nurse.  A GPA of 3.0 or better is required and financial need must be demonstrated.

 

Virginia Federation of Republican Women Kendall Rhodes Memorial Scholarship

The VFRW is offering this scholarship to a graduating female high school senior who will be majoring in education.  The recipient must plan to attend an accredited college or university in the State of Virginia

 

Colonial Agricultural Educational Foundation – H. Earl Longest Endowment

Must reside in Colonial Farm Credit territory and major in ag-related field or come from a farming background.

 

Virginia War Memorial Veterans Day Essay Contest

This contest is open to all Virginia Middle and High School public, private, or homeschooled students. A winning entry will be chosen from each Grade Range (grades 6-8 and 9-12).

2. Submissions must be between 500-750 words and use at least one primary source. Students must properly cite their sources in a bibliography (APA or MLA style) and include the bibliography with their submission.

3. Entries will be judged on clarity of thought, adherence to the contest theme and guidelines, and proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

 

 
 

 

Virginia Association for Pupil Transportation – Clyde Morris Memorial Student Scholarship

Open to a Virginia public school senior who has a parent or grandparent either currently employed or formerly employed in the public school pupil transportation field in the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Must have minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA and is selected based on leadership, citizenship and service.  Applicant must submit application to be chosen by a local committee by their submission deadline date, then committee must submit chosen applicant by deadline listed below.
