Congressional Seventh District Art Competition

Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated.

Acceptable entries include, but are not limited to, paintings, drawings, and photography. The first place winner will receive a scholarship and travel to Washington, D.C. to attend a Congressional Reception in honor of all the winners from around the nation. The first place entry for each congressional district will also be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel in the United States Capitol Building for an entire year, where it will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people who visit the Capitol.

Applicants should submit their artwork along with the proper forms to their individual congressional district.  A winner from each district in Virginia will be chosen.  Please see link for detailed rules.  Deadline extended to May 22, 2020
